Introduction to Spanish
Introduction to Spanish is a semester long course offered to 7th grade students. In this course students will learn Spanish pronunciation, courtesy, common objects, classroom commands, and the basic use of verbs and adjectives through a variety of activities including games, songs, projects and group discussions. They are exposed to basic constructs of Spanish grammar and learn about the geography and culture of the Spanish-speaking world. They will communicate by using all four domains of communication: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.
Spanish I
Spanish I is a yearlong course offered to 8th grade students, and is equivalent to Spanish I at Ionia High School. Students who pass the course and earn 70% or higher on the 1st and 2nd semester exams will receive one high school credit and be placed into Spanish II as a high school student. Success in Spanish depends not only on developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, but also on cooperating with your classmates and teacher as a responsible member of the learning community. Note: Students do NOT have to take Introduction to Spanish in 7th grade to be eligible for this class.
